In this climate conversation, high school student David Solano, passionate about climate justice, discusses his background and experiences related to climate change. Growing up in Mexico and the US, he shares how rising ocean temperatures an invasive algae have affected beaches in both places. He got involved in climate advocacy through beach cleanups and joined the FXB Climate Advocates program, where the passion and diversity of the youth involved inspired him. With the help of FXB, David conducted a climate project on the impacts of invasive algae on Long Island beaches, gaining valuable skills and mentoring. He emphasized the importance of youth involvement in addressing climate change and recommended starting with small actions like volunteering for beach cleanups. The conversation highlighted the global nature of climate impacts, the power of youth in climate action, and the need for collaboration between generations.
