Profile: Britney Jasmin Pereda

Hi, my name is Britney Jasmin Pereda and I’m 16 years old. I’m from Peru but 2 years ago, I moved to Springfield, Virginia. I’m currently in 10th grade at John R. Lewis High School. Since I was a kid, I’ve always liked to go out with my family and friends to parks. I appreciate the views of their gardens and how the environment makes me feel. A few years ago, I began to become more aware of why global warming was expanding faster and damaging the wonderful and great thing that is nature. Sometimes, I feel helpless watching the news, knowing how over the years we were damaging the environment. I know that if one person made a difference it could get better.

I want to expand and promote the knowledge and communication on environmental and climate change since it is a global challenge. I am passionate about implementing solutions to reduce our environmental footprint and help the animals that inhabit it. I hope to turn our planet into a safe place in which any race, species and culture can live. The great change begins now, and we have to raise our voices to stop the destruction of forests, rainforests, marine ecosystems and the extinction of animals.

I decided to join FXB Climate Advocates because I am looking for opportunities to spread the importance of climate change and increase my knowledge. I feel that we will make a change in the world by freeing nature from its destruction and increasing renewable energies.
