Mahounou Sother Aimé Gbede

Faculté des Sciences de la Santé / University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin

My name is Mahounou Gbede. I studied nutrition and dietetics and got a bachelor's degree. I'm 25 and elder of 5 siblings (2 boys and 3 girls). I come from Benin and especially municipality of Toviklin, in the province of Couffo, more precisely in the south-west of Benin. I started working with rural communities at a very early stage through a number of projects/programs including the Child Sponsorship Program, PMASN (Projet Multisectoriel de l'Alimentation, de la Santé et de la Nutrition), PNDPE (Projet de Nutrition et de Développement de la Petite Enfance) and R-PIHI-Com (Reinforcement of the High Community Impact Intervention Package). These projects/programs were implemented by NGOs. Through these different NGOs and projects/programs I have had the great honour to serve as Nutrition Volunteer Officer or Nutrition Internship Officer. Overall, all these projects/programs were focused on improving the nutritional status of children under five (05) years old, their mothers or lactating women as well as adolescent girls. Across all interventions, I realized that the link between nutrition and climate change. This is the main reason I join this program in order to gain skills and knowledge to protect climate.
