Ava Dahl

The Nightingale-Bamford School, United States

My name is Ava Dahl and I am a senior at The Nightingale-Bamford School in New York City. I grew up in Hong Kong until I was nine and have lived in New York ever since. I am grateful that I lived in Hong Kong for half of my life, because I now am able to appreciate and celebrate the beautiful, rich culture in China. At school I am on the Varsity tennis team. I have been playing tennis since I was four-years-old, so tennis has always been a big part of my life. I am the oldest of four sisters and love spending time with my family, whether hiking, biking, or eating.

My passion for ecology and environmental science developed in Idaho, where three generations of my dad’s family have lived. I enjoy talking about nature with my grandpa, and have observed climate change’s effects on Idaho over the years. Because I’ve seen these effects, I want to devote my life to restoring these beloved ecosystems, whether through research, policy, or business. I’m excited to interact with students who share my passion for confronting the climate crisis, and look forward to learning and growing with everyone!
